what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. romans 1:19

THE 10 PLAGUES

God wants everyone to know Him as a loving God, with no other gods before Him (Exodus 20:3). The plagues that He sent to Egypt showed His power over the gods of the country, as well as over nature, life, and death. These plagues were meant to grab the attention of all of Egypt, not just Pharaoh Amenhotep II. God's plan had some success: "The magicians said to Pharaoh, 'This is the finger of God!'" But Pharaoh's heart was hard, and he refused to listen to them (Exodus 8:19).
1. Water Turned to Blood Targeted Gods: - Hapi (god of the Nile’s fertility) - Khnum (creator of water and life) - Osiris (god of the underworld, linked to the Nile) - Hatmehit (goddess of fish) Significance: Turning the Nile into blood harmed Egypt’s farming and spiritual life, mocking the gods connected to water and food.
2. Frogs Targeted God: - Heqet (frog-headed goddess of fertility and childbirth) Significance: Frogs, which usually symbolize life, became a nuisance, showing Heqet’s failure to control her sacred creature.
3. Lice/Gnats Targeted Gods: - Geb (god of the earth) - Har-pa-khered (Horus as a child) - Imhotep (god of medicine) Significance: Dust turned into lice, which polluted the earth (Geb’s domain) and made priests unclean. The magicians could not create or control this, showing Yahweh’s greater power.
4. Flies Targeted Gods: - Khepri (scarab beetle god of rebirth) - Amun (wind god) Significance: The swarms of flies turned Khepri’s sign of life into decay, and Amun could not stop them.
5. Livestock Pestilence Targeted Gods: - Hathor (cow goddess of motherhood) - Apis (bull god of fertility) - Mnevis (sacred bull of Heliopolis) Significance: The disease that killed livestock hurt the gods associated with animal worship and farming prosperity.
6. Boils Targeted Gods: - Sekhmet (lioness goddess of healing) - Isis (goddess of medicine) - Imhotep (god of healing) Significance: The painful boils indicated the failure of the healing gods, which even affected their priests.
7. Hail Targeted Gods: - Nut (sky goddess) - Set (storm god) - Shu (god of air) Significance: Hail destroyed Nut’s sky power and Set’s control over storms.
8. Locusts Targeted Gods: - Osiris (god of vegetation) - Seth (protector of crops) - Bastet (cat goddess, protector against pests) Significance: Locusts ate all the crops, mocking Osiris’s role in agriculture and Bastet’s ability to control pests.
9. Darkness Targeted Gods: - Ra (supreme sun god) - Horus (sky god, son of Ra) - Nut (sky goddess) Significance: Three days of darkness took away Ra’s power as the sun god and caused chaos in Egypt.
10. Death of Firstborns Targeted Gods: - Pharaoh (seen as a living god) - Osiris (judge of the dead) - Serket (goddess protecting children) - Renenutet (guardian of Pharaoh’s family) Significance: The deaths of firstborns, including the Pharaoh's heir, challenged beliefs about divine kingship and the afterlife.

EGYPTIAN COFFIN TEXTS

  • The Egyptian Coffin Texts date back to around 2000 BCE, during the Middle Kingdom period. One text states: "I am he who will be judged with Him-whose-name-is-hidden on that night of slaying the firstborn."

  • This text is significant because:
  • - It parallels the tenth plague in Exodus, where the firstborn of Egypt died while the Israelites were saved.
  • - The mention of "Him-whose-name-is-hidden" points to a mysterious divine being involved in this judgment.
  • - This is one of the strongest connections between ancient Egyptian writings and the biblical plagues story.

  • The text is older than when the Exodus is traditionally thought to have occurred by several centuries. It raises 2 questions: - The timeframe of the Coffin Texts are in close proximity to the timeframe of Joseph being Prime Minister of Egypt (1884 BC). Joseph was Spirit led and a dream interpreter. It is plausible that his influence in Egypt accounts for such a transcription.
  • -Could it be that Joesph's influence led to such a spiritual recognition amongst the Egyptians? - Could this be a prophecy led by the Spirit that points to a mighty God?

THE ADMONITIONS OF IPUWER

Some scholars view the Admonitions of Ipuwer as strong evidence in support of the Exodus story in the Bible. It describes events that closely match the ten plagues, such as the Nile turning to blood, sickness spreading, darkness covering the land, and the death of the firstborn. Written by an Egyptian royal scribe named Ipuwer, the papyrus offers a firsthand view of the disasters mentioned in the Book of Exodus. It includes details of chaos, blood everywhere, dying cattle, and even the Israelites leaving with riches from Egypt. Some people believe this serves as independent evidence for the biblical account.

THE JAMES WEBB TELESCOPE

The discoveries made by the James Webb telescope challenge existing evolutionary theories by revealing early Universe galaxies that developed more rapidly than expected, prompting a reevaluation of galaxy evolution. As the telescope looks back in time, approximately 10 billion years, it has uncovered massive, well-structured galaxies that were anticipated to be formless. This poses significant challenges to the secular scientific community. For instance, Christian astrophysicist Dr. Jason Lisle predicted the discovery of large, fully formed galaxies and the detection of elements heavier than lithium in distant stars.
These observations suggest a remarkable order in the cosmos, aligning with the expectations of biblical creationists. Instead of chaos, scientists are finding structure in the universe, which supports the idea of a divine creator. As the article encourages us to rethink our understanding, it emphasizes starting with God's word, which often aligns with scientific findings.
I believe this is another example of God revealing Himself through His creation. He is going to extraordinary efforts to open people’s eyes to the truth.

THE SHROUD OF TURIN

Recent studies have examined the Shroud of Turin to see if it could be the burial cloth of Jesus Christ.
Key Findings:
1. Blood Analysis: - The shroud contains type AB human blood, which is rare (found in 2-3% of people). Other artifacts linked to Jesus also have this blood type, including: - The Sudarium of Oviedo (a facecloth) - The Tunic of Argenteuil (believed to have been worn by Jesus) - The blood appears reddish due to bilirubin from trauma, and high levels of ferritin and creatinine may indicate organ failure. - The blood remains reddish due to bilirubin from severe trauma. - High levels of ferritin and creatinine indicate possible organ failure.
2. Physical Trauma Evidence: - There are about 300 lash marks from flogging on the shroud. - Marks suggests a crown of thorns was placed on the head. - A side wound aligns with accounts of Jesus being pierced. - Signs of facial injury, including a likely separated septum.
3. Crucifixion Details: - Nail placement through the ankles matches the findings from other crucifixion victims. - One example includes a man named Yohanan, whose heel had a nail.
4. Scientific Analysis: - Experts used a VP-8 image analyzer that showed unique 3D features in the shroud's image. - Regular photos do not show these 3D characteristics. - The anatomical details on the shroud are scientifically accurate.
Overall, experts believe that the evidence suggests the shroud is authentic and likely depicts Jesus of Nazareth.

SUMMARY

Over the past few years, a wealth of archaeological, scientific, and historical evidence has emerged, supporting the legitimacy of the Bible. I believe we are close to the Second Coming of Christ, and God is revealing more evidence that affirms the Bible.

2 PETER 3:9 NLT

The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise,as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent.
